This page contains a brief history of the events that led to the unification of AIM and NGPA, and how the 2 ministries became Apostolic Restoration Mission (ARM)

Church History
Apostolic Restoration Mission came into being in August 2003 as a result of a merger between two older organizations. Although we only recently became known as Apostolic Restoration Mission (ARM), our roots in this ministry go much deeper. This is our story.
This Apostolic ministry, with a message of love to the gay and lesbian community, first began in 1980. The Presbyter Emeritus, Bro. Carey, one of the original pioneers of the Apostolic Pentecostal movement in our community, very boldly began to herald this message of truth, and the organization was known as the National Gay Pentecostal Alliance (NGPA).
We will revisit the history of NGPA in more detail, after we finish telling the story of how we became known as ARM.
Apostolic Intercessory Ministry (AIM), the outreach portion of this ministry, first began to form in 1999. This team of ministers, although previously affiliated with NGPA, felt the call to begin this help ministry. The main objective of AIM was, and remains, to go out and help churches become established.
The Lord began to impress on us that we were too small of a people not to be unified.
Neither organization considered themselves above others (haughty), or the greatest in the Kingdom, just servants, willing to be used of God for the greater benefit of the Kingdom.
So, Bro. Carey and Bro. Rollins began to open the conversation of uniting, and after a year of constant conversation, planned the unification.
Bro. Carey felt direction from the Lord to change NGPA's name to represent the mission of maintaining truth (ARM), which this ministry will continue to do until the Lord's return for His bride.
In Aug of 2003, AIM, retaining its name, united with NGPA, and the two became Apostolic Restoration Mission.
This is a brief summary of the 23 year history of NGPA:
NGPA was founded July 28, 1980 in Schenectady, NY. Founders were Bro. W. Carey and Sis. J. Schwarz. Over the years, NGPA pioneered and encouraged church growth in many places, including New York, Nebraska, Texas, California, Nevada, Arizona, Alabama, South Carolina, Vermont, Massachusetts, Illinois, Michigan, Louisiana, Georgia, Arkansas, and overseas in Nigeria, Russia and Ukraine.
